Martial Law HUMAN RIGHTS victims want Supreme Court to stop FM burial at LNMB

MANILA - They come from different walks of life, but share a common grief of being relatives of, or themselves being, victims of human rights violations during the martial law years under the late former President Ferdinand Marcos.

They found themselves gathered before the steps of the Supreme Court to seek a stop to the plan of President Rodrigo Duterte to have the remains of Marcos interred at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.

Some 14 petitioners recounted their experience to tell the public that, while the dead may bury their own dead, "the darkest decades in the nation's history must not culminate in the supreme injustice to the living."

The 14 petitioners were Loretta Ann Rosales, Jo-Ann Maglipon, Zenaida Mique, Fe Mangahas, Hilda Narciso, Aida Santos-Maranan, Ma. Cristina Bawagan, Mila Aguilar, Minerva Gonzales, Ma. Cristina Rodriguez, Francisco Rodrigo, Jr., Louie Crismo, Liwayway Arce, and Abdulmari De Leon Imao, Jr.

Here are some of their stories:

Hilda Narciso, acupuncturist, Reiki healer and therapist and currently board member of Claimants 1081. She was arrested, raped and detained for six months in Davao City.

Doon ko dinanas ang multiple rape.  Maraming penis ang sinubo sa aking bibig ... it lasted for two days.

Aida Santos-Maranan, detained, tortured and raped in 1976 to 1977 at MISG, Camp Crame.

Hindi madaling magkwento ... I know my torturer by name. I was raped, subjected to Russian roulette.

Mila Aguilar, a political prisoner from 1984 to 1986, was in solitary confinement for one and a half months. Her husband was shot dead in Davao.

When my son was a year and a half years old, I had to bring him to my mother.  Hindi ko siya maalagaan dahil baka mamatay siya kapag kasama namin. Imagine, ang nanay na kailangan i-give up ang kanyang anak. When I got back to my house, my son was already 17 or 15, wala na akong anak kasi wala na kaming bonding.
