Senator Trillanes: "Definitely, people will see Mr. Matobato in a new light."

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Sunday said he will present verifiable evidence that would confirm self-confessed hitman Edgar Matobato's testimony.

.
Trillanes, who refused to disclose his specific findings, said these would corroborate the claims of Matobato.
"Definitely, people will see Mr. Matobato in a new light. Instead of trying to punch holes in his testimony, we did the investigative work of checking his claims and we found out that these were true," Trillanes said.
The senator believes that Matobato has been consistent with his statements contrary to the claims of his colleagues, such as senator Alan Peter Cayetano who noted that the claims were inconsistent.
"Senator Cayetano is only saying that he (Matobato) changed his statement but if you look at the transcript of the Senate, he (Matobato) has been consistent with the major revelations," Trillanes said, adding that no human being has perfect memory.
Matobato, a confessed member of the alleged Davao Death Squad, linked President Rodrigo Duterte to several extrajudicial killings and bombing incidents when he was still Davao City mayor.
Matobato has appeared twice before the Senate inquiry on extrajudicial killings.
FRUSTRATED MURDER RAPS: IRONIC
Meanwhile, Trillanos also defended Matobato from his frustrated murder case, saying it is ironic and flawed.
Matobato was charged with a frustrated murder complaint by Abeto Salcedo Jr. in Digos City, Davao del Sur last September 23.
Salcedo claimed that Matobato was the gunman who shot him last October 24, 2014.
"That's the irony that they completely disregarded his (Matobato) claims yet they are ready to believe the case," Trillanes said.
He explained that based on documents from the Department of Justice, Matobato has been under the witness protection program since September 2014.
"Mr. Matobato has already been accepted in the September 2014 witness protection program. He cannot be the same person who committed the October case," Trillanes said.
