According to Senator Trillanes, Edgar Matobato was consistent about the events and other details he was sure about.

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Friday slammed his colleagues who have criticized the so-called "inconsistencies" in the testimony of self-confessed former Davao Death Squad (DDS) member Edgar Matobato.
The inconsistencies, if any, were trivial as shown by the transcript of the hearing of the Senate committee on justice and human rights, Trillanes said in a statement.
Despite the badgering by some senators, Matobato was consistent about the events and other details he was sure about, Trillanes added.
During yesterday’s hearing presided by its new chair, Sen. Richard Gordon, Trillanes accused some of his colleagues of confusing Matobato to make it appear that he had been lying.
“But I must admit, there was a language barrier and a few of my colleagues took advantage of that. Napakita nila na mas magaling sila sa grade 1. [They showed they were better than someone who only finished grade 1],” Trillanes said.
The Senate committee on justice and human rights on Thursday resumed its probe on the extrajudicial killings in President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs.
Attending the hearing for the second time, Matobato’s testimony was scrutinized by Senators Gordon, Alan Cayetano, Manny Pacquiao, and Tito Sotto.
The senators said there were inconsistencies in Matobato’s testimonies, including Matobato’s statements on who ordered the killing of alleged terrorist Sali Makdum and Matobato’s affiliation with the Citizen Armed Forces Geographical Unit (Cafgu).
