Sebastian wants to tell all to Duterte, lawyer says

High-profile inmate Jaybee Sebastian is willing to disclose everything he knows about the Bilibid drug trade that is being linked to Senator Leila De Lima, provided that he speaks directly to President Rodrigo Duterte, his lawyer said Thursday.

"Several officials under the previous administration will be implicated in Sebastian's testimony since he was privy to the [drug] transactions," lawyer Eduardo Arriba said.

Though Sebastian will not snub invitations for him to appear before a Congressional probe, Arriba said the high-profile inmate will not disclose anything to anyone except Duterte.

Arriba said Sebastian will not ask for either amnesty or protection from the government in exchange for the information he describes as "important, material and almost conclusive."

"Para makita ng presidente na there are no strings attached. Gusto niya lang tumulong, sa presidente lang," Arriba said.

[We want to prove to the president that there are no strings attached. Sebastian wants to help, but only for the president.]

"We will leave it to the president. If the president will grant him immunity, then so be it," Arriba added.

The lawyer said Sebastian's camp is seeking to have him transferred from the New Bilibid Prison's (NBP) Building 14 to a different detention facility because his client fears for his life.

Sebastian figured in a bloody stabbing incident that left one convicted crime lord killed and 3 others injured.

Arriba said Sebastian believes that the attack was premeditated, and was meant to eliminate him.

Sebastian will leave it up to the Department of Justice and the Bureau of Corrections to file the necessary charges against perpetrators, he added.
