Village chief, nephew arrested for guns, drugs in Cotabato City

Police recovered four firearms and a sachet of suspected shabu from the vehicle of Darry Sinsuat, Jr., barangay chairman of Bongued in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao and his nephew Rajid Sinsuat in Cotabato City. 

COTABATO CITY - Cotabato City police arrested a barangay chairman and his nephew for illegal drugs in a checkpoint in Tamontaka Bridge in Cotabato City at around 10 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police recovered one plastic sachet of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia from Darry Sinsuat Jr., barangay chairman of Bongued in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao and his nephew Rajid Sinsuat.

Also seized from the two were four firearms: one KG-9 riffle, two Uzi submachine guns and one Ultimax riffle. Police also recovered magazines and assorted ammunition during the search.

The village chief denied allegations that he is involved in the illegal activities. He claimed the firearms recovered in his vehicle are used for self-defense only.
