La Union official brings nephews in drug list to police station
LA UNION - Bauang Vice Mayor Bonifacio Malinao accompanied his three nephews who were included in the drug watch list to the Bauang Municipal Police Station Wednesday morning.
Malinao presented his nephews to the new chief of police, Chief Inspector Joel Lagto. One of his three nephews surrendered on August 17.
"Records will show. Yung kamag-anak ko, nakakulong pa hanggang ngayon. (My relatives are still in jail.) It is known here in Bauang. Kahit maubos pamilya ko. Kapag nasangkot sa droga, kahit wala akong relatives. (I don't care if they are my relatives. If they are involved in drugs [they should surrender].) Proof that I do not tolerate drugs in my town. No one is spared," Malinao said.
The vice mayor's nephews will be subjected to tactical interrogation.
As of August 15, 2016, 293 out of 643 drug suspects in Bauang's drug list have surrendered. Ten have been arrested.
